Can SignUpGenius take payments for a class?
Yes. SignUpGenius collects money on a sign up, and its Dues & Fees pages are made for "camp registration, league dues, and youth sports registrations", with a waiver signed before checkout and recurring payments on a schedule. Payment pages are available on every plan. The fee is 3.95% + $0.95 per card payment, passed to the payer by default.
SignUpGenius draws the line itself. Its help center says that if you're tracking who's coming to "a potluck, a classroom party, a volunteer shift" and no money is changing hands, "stick with a regular, free Sign Up". We agree. For that job it is hard to beat.

What does SignUpGenius cost with payments on a $240 registration?
On the payment alone, SignUpGenius costs less. Its one fee, 3.95% + $0.95, includes card processing: $10.43 on a $240 registration. On enrops, the $7.20 enrops service fee and Stripe's $7.47 come to $14.67. The family pays less on enrops, $247.20 against $250.43. The business keeps more on SignUpGenius when the fee is passed on.
SignUpGenius, free plan
A $240.00 registration paid by card, fee passed to the payer, which is their default.
Cover the fee yourself and the family pays $240.00 while you keep $229.57. SignUpGenius says the fee can come out slightly higher than the formula when the payer covers it. On a refund the $10.43 is not returned, and the seller covers it.
enrops, Free plan
A $240.00 registration paid by card.
By bank the family pays $244.80 and saves $2.40. The service fee is refunded to the family whenever the registration is refunded.
So price is not the reason to move. The reasons are further down this page: what happens after the family pays, what happens when you cancel a class, and how much of the season you run by hand. What registration software costs has the same math for more tools.

What does a registration system add at 50 families?
At 50 families the work changes shape. When is SignUpGenius the right call, and when does a program need enrops?
SignUpGenius is a good tool, and PTOs and first-year programs start there for good reason. Here is how to tell which side of the line you're on.
Stay on SignUpGenius if
- You're filling volunteer shifts, snack schedules, conference slots or a potluck. No money, no roster, one link. That is its home turf.
- You run one paid event or one simple class, every family pays in full, and you know them by name.
- You're a PTO selling tickets or spirit wear, or running a fundraiser. SignUpGenius has tools made for each.
- You want the lowest cost per payment and refunds are rare for you.
Move to enrops when
- You run several classes, sites or sessions, and you need a roster for each with grade and homeroom teacher on it.
- Parents ask to split the cost. enrops payment plans split the total into the installments you set, with no interest, plan fee or late fee.
- You cancel a class now and then. The enrops service fee is refunded to the family whenever the registration is refunded.
- You run at schools and want dates built from the district calendar.
- You want families to see your programs and nothing else, with no ads, on the Free plan. The price families see first is the price they pay.
You can use both: enrops for registration and payments, SignUpGenius for the volunteer sheet. If you're a parent group, see enrops for PTOs. If this is your first season, see enrops for new programs.

Leave the current session where it is, and keep SignUpGenius for your volunteer sheets. Your first registration takes under 5 minutes.
